Instagram Takeover

On January 16, 2023, I was perusing Instagram when Eddie Santiago from National Board asked if I would be interested in “Taking Over Instagram” for #TeamNBCTWeek. During the week of January 23, 2023, National Board celebrated educators across the country on their platforms and through social media, @NBPTS

I agreed to take over the National Board Instagram account on Tuesday, January 24th. The request was for me to post pictures, videos, and links to resources throughout my designated day using the hashtags #TeamNBCT and #NBCTStrong.

I introduced myself at 9:00 am, telling my fellow NBCTs who I was and informing them I was taking over the National Board Instagram account. Throughout the day, I engaged my colleagues by asking them about themselves, their National Board journey and programs, and how they support the National Board process in their

schools, cities, and states. I also wanted the newly minted

2022 NBCTs to tell us who they are and where they are

so that we can follow them. From 9:00 am - 7:30 pm, I had

an awesome time discussing all things NBCT.

Taking over Instagram was great for meeting new.

NBCTs and stretching to become knowledgeable about

Instagram as it is not my primary social media platform.

Besides meeting a lot of awesome NBCTs, I learned that I need more knowledge on how to create reels, short videos usually lasting less than a minute. Before the Takeover, I only posted pictures and asked questions on social media. Through this opportunity, I learned the importance of making reels. Reels are excellent for sharing content.

I spent the next few days of #TeamNBCTWeek following other NBCTs as they stepped up to “take over” the platform. They all did a fantastic job posting reels and sharing content. I started following over 100 NBCTs on Instagram due to this experience. These new connections will make my Instrage experience richer. If you are on Instagram, follow me, Senetria_Educator, and I will be sure to follow back.
